Links to things I like

It used to be very common to list links to other websites in the past, especially on small personal websites, blogs, fansites, etc. These things are not as common anymore. However, with recent developments in the "search engine game", I think it might be a good idea to start sharing these links again - so we can find beautiful things in this sea of crap we call the internet. Even if the links are to websites that "almost everyone knows by now".

Webcomics

• XKCD - "A webcomic of romance, sarcasm, math, and language." Very nerdy, very geeky. If you like science, literature, or anything else nerdy/geeky, you'll probably like this. (Pro tip: Don't forget to hover above the image, there's an extra joke in the title text)
• Explain XKCD - Not webcomic iteself, but if you start reading XKCD, you might want to bookmark this wiki, too. Very helpful in explaining jokes and references you might not get.
• Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal - Also funny webcomic :) (Pro tip: Don't forget to press the red button for an extra joke)
• The Oatmeal - I guess this can be a hit and miss. The author made some "viral" things in the past.

Personal blogs

• Cadence's Weblog - "Cadence's personal blog, featuring a grab bag of stories, computers, photos, mind, and all the other thoughts that won't let me go."
• Nicky's Blog - Author of many things, such as: coming out simulator, parable of polygons, and more projects by ncase.

Games

• Improbable Island - A browser text game, which strives to be accessible to players.

Magazines

• Low-Tech Magazine - "Low-tech Magazine underscores the potential of past and often forgotten technologies and how they can inform sustainable energy practices. Technology has become the idol of our society, but technological progress is—more often than not—aimed at solving problems caused by earlier technical inventions."
• Solar Low-Tech Magazine - The same magazine, but served from a small single board computer powered by a solar panel. I like this version much more. "This is a solar-powered website, which means it sometimes goes offline."

Zines

• wizard zines - programming zines by Julia Evans (b0rk)

FOSS and Linux websites

• It's FOSS - web-portal that focuses on Open Source in general and Linux in particular.

I don't know where to put these

• cosmic.voyage - a tilde community based around a collaborative science-fiction universe. Users write stories as the people aboard ships, colonies, etc.
